The Final Stretch

People who run will understand when I talk about the final stretch.  When you know you only have a certain distance left that is totally manageable, but you have to take yourself out of your body and into your head-space in order to make it through.  You turn the corner, you see the finish line, but then you notice something.  The wind is blowing at you, the ground has an incline up to the line, your left calf is cramping up... and then you start to have doubts.  This is pretty much where I am now mentally.  I know that it's doable.  I know that it's right around the corner.  I know that one of the worst-case scenarios is that a week from now I'll get induced and that then it will all be done... but I need to get into my head and out of my body to do it.  So that's what I'm working on. I had one of my legs give out on me today.  I was sitting on a hard chair tutoring a kid on the cell organelles, osmosis and diffusion and after 30 minutes ...

Letting Go

This weekend in yoga there was a substitute teacher.  It wasn't an incredible class, however she started off with a quote to set the tone and this particular one stuck with me throughout the practice, and even on my ride home. "It doesn't take a lot of strength to hang on.  It takes a lot of strength to let go." I've been struggling with a bunch of things where this could apply.   I have been given a whole lot of unsolicited advice as of late that has ticked me off to the Nth degree (people think that giving advice to pregnant women is a super idea... I would like to take a moment to assure them otherwise).  I've been carrying around a whole lot of bitterness and resentment regarding this advice.  It's time to let go. Pregnancy itself this time around has been significantly more achy and it occurred much earlier in the pregnancy.  My pelvis and hips and ligaments and hamstrings feel very often as if they are hanging out by a very thin little threa...

Just When You Thought You Could Breathe Easy...

This is pretty much an accurate description of last night from 2:45am until about 4:45am and then a good 3 hour chunk of today.  Everyone I told over the weekend "maybe we've turned the corner!" I take it back completely.  This picture will for sure be used as guilt material throughout the teenage years.  Sigh.
