Knock On Wood

I end up complaining a lot on this blog.  I know this.  It's a way for me to let things go as I write them.  However I do have to say that I'm a very very lucky girl. 

The past few weeks have been pretty tough on little kids within my immediate circle.  Two little babies have been diagnosed with cancer.  I cannot imagine such a thing happening to my little girl.  Knock on wood, tfoo tfoo tfoo.  So here is my version of "Dayenu" mama-style.  

My pregnancy was incredible.  My labor was without incident.  My child was born completely healthy.  She has continued to be healthy with the exception of a runny nose.  She sleeps well at night in between feedings.  She laughs and has a great personality.  Lilah has amazing hair and gorgeous eyes.  She has thigh folds galore which are completely delicious.  She loves to swim.  

Knock on wood.  I love that little lady of mine.

So in real life, things are still about the same.  Every day is a whirl of diapers, rocking, learning to do things with one hand, and every time I sit down or have a moment I can't seem to get myself to do anything actually productive.  It's just kind of a mess up in my head.  I also can't believe that it's been almost a month of this!  Anywho... before I forget, I wanted to write down our reasons for little lady Pritzker's name.  Jewish folks name their children after those who have departed this earth.  Here are the wonderful people who our little girl will never meet.  We'll do our best to teach her about them and more importantly instill their lessons and values. This is pretty much an accurate description of last night from 2:45am until about 4:45am and then a good 3 hour chunk of today.  Everyone I told over the weekend "maybe we've turned the corner!" I take it back completely.  This picture will for sure be used as guilt material throughout the teenage years.  Sigh.

10 days In- Reflections, Realizations, Confessions.

Holy cow.  Parenthood.  It's here and it didn't just tiptoe in like a little kitten, it arrived with a roar and then settled into our living room and I think it might stay awhile.  I think we have a relatively easy child, but there are definitely some things that need to be written down immediately (or after 10 days, since time is something that doesn't really exist anymore). They say you should never have a child to fix a marriage.  Holy crap are they right.  If I didn't like my husband, this would be a very very different and unsuccessful adventure.  This is taxing.  Straight up hard work.  I've never been one for sleep deprivation, and this is pushing it to the max.  You don't always have time/ forget to eat (if I forget to eat this is a big deal people )  and you don't sleep much and you have people in and out... if you don't like your spouse, just forget about having children together.  Do yourselves both a favor.  I am blessed to have the man
